How it works
Three steps, no IT project. And two guarantees: every answer cites its source, and no answer is made up.
-
1. Official sources
We connect the official content you choose: the town website, the e-office, bylaws as PDF, the agenda and the news. It is read again every night (or every week, as you decide), and every citation shows the source's date.
-
2. Answers with citations
When someone asks, EnaChat searches the town's documents and writes the answer only from that content, in the language of the question. Under every answer is the link to the original source. If the question starts from a wrong premise (an old deadline, a changed fee), it corrects it citing the source: it doesn't agree just to please.
-
3. Hand-off to a person
If the sources don't cover the question, EnaChat says so clearly and passes it to the citizen office, which sees it in the console and gets it by email. The "Talk to a person" button is always visible, and the office's phone and hours sit at the foot of the chat: the assistant adds a channel, it never removes one.
What EnaChat will never do
- Make up an answer when the sources don't cover it
- Hide human contact or send people round in circles
- Process transactions or give legal advice: it informs, it doesn't transact
- Profile anyone or keep conversations beyond 90 days
Questions councils ask us
What if the assistant says something that isn't true?
It only writes from the sources you point us at, and an answer without citations automatically becomes "I don't know". When an answer is wrong, it is almost always because the source is wrong or out of date: fix the source and the answer changes. You can review every conversation in the console.
What if someone wants to talk to a person?
The "Talk to a person" button is visible from the first message, and the citizen office's phone and hours sit at the foot of the chat. Questions the assistant can't answer go to the office, which sees them in the console.
AOC and the provincial council already offer free assistants. Why one of our own?
Shared assistants answer what is the same everywhere: how a generic procedure works, what a digital ID is. None of them knows your recycling centre's hours, your terrace bylaw or your festival calendar. That is exactly what EnaChat answers, and it sits alongside the free services without replacing any of them.
Our website is hosted by the provincial council or by AOC. Do we have to change it?
You only paste a <script> tag into the site template. If you don't have that access, the assistant has its own page with the town's name and colours, and you link to it from the menu.
How long does it take to go live?
Days. Indexing a small or mid-size town's sources takes minutes to a few hours; the real time goes into agreeing with you which sources are in scope and where hand-offs go.
Will it replace citizen office staff?
No. It absorbs repetitive questions and the ones that arrive when the office is closed. The office's phone and hours stay visible in the chat, and the digital channel adds to in-person service rather than replacing it.
Can we decide what it answers and what it doesn't?
Yes. You decide which sources are in and which stay out, and who receives hand-offs. Outside those sources, the assistant doesn't answer.
What happens if we don't renew one year?
You remove the tag from the website and that's it: no lock-in, no penalty. We then delete the town's data.
